The Urban Greening Project creates Wicking Beds NZ
With a passion for bringing nature's beauty into urban environments, we believe that innovation is key to bringing more greenery to our cities.
Wicking Beds NZ (parent company of NZ's; The Urban Greening Project Limited) has partnered with WaterUps Australia who have designed and manufactured world-leading sustainable and innovative products with the aim of improving food security, enhancing urban greenery and improving water management.
WaterUps utilise the age-old concept of 'wicking' which saves up to 80% of water consumption by watering from beneath the soil, this grows healthier plants and allows consistent watering for long periods of time, making the process of growing greenery accessible to anyone and everyone.
WaterUps was founded by Sydney-siders Ian Collins and Vince Hunt in 2015. Their focus was to build a company that could commercialise the age-old concept of ‘wicking’ and to allow wicking bed technology to be used in commercial, civil, and horticultural environments as well as the home garden.
Adapting to our busy lives this innovation gives us greater opportunity to grow our own food with ease. Evolving with our urban landscapes this innovation allows us to bring nature back to our cities and bring more green infrastructure to urban locations.
