Baduzzi Restaurant Privacy Planters

An external trough planter at Baduzzi Restaurant plays a critical role in screening the conservatory dining area and providing shade from the intense western-facing sun. During peak summer conditions, inconsistent watering and reflected heat caused the hedge planting to fail, impacting both privacy and presentation.
To restore the space and improve long-term resilience, three sub-irrigation reservoir units were installed within each of the existing trough planters. End packers were incorporated to ensure structural support and consistent water distribution. The evergreen native Corokia hedge was replanted to reinstate the natural screening.
The result is a robust, low-maintenance planting solution that withstands high heat and exposure, ensuring year-round privacy and a consistent dining experience in a demanding urban setting.
