Spark CBD Raised Garden Beds

As part of a major commercial development in central Auckland, two 1680 mm Macrocarpa Raised Garden Bed kits were installed on Spark’s high-traffic staff deck. Located adjacent to the kitchen and shared eating area across six occupied floors, the space offered an ideal opportunity to introduce productive urban gardening into the workplace.

Designed to provide fresh produce for staff while enhancing the outdoor environment, the beds incorporate a sub-irrigation system to maintain consistent soil moisture and reduce maintenance requirements. Ongoing care is managed by GreenAir, who also facilitate monthly planting, harvesting, and educational sessions for Spark employees. The first workshop welcomed 45 participants, encouraging hands-on engagement with urban food growing.

This project demonstrates how edible gardens can be successfully integrated into commercial environments—supporting sustainability initiatives, workplace wellbeing, and team connection.
