Transforming an Unused Courtyard into a Thriving Green Oasis
Faced with a stark, underutilised courtyard in one of Auckland’s tallest commercial towers, our client sought a solution that would transform the space into a welcoming retreat for office occupants. The goal was to introduce a lush, inviting environment where people could unwind, connect with nature, and experience a softer, more tranquil atmosphere amid the city’s fast-paced energy.

To achieve this, we strategically placed large floor-standing planters to create intimate, private nooks while also designing an immersive arrival experience—guiding people through a vibrant, nature-filled entryway. WaterUps tree reservoirs and starter kits were key to ensuring the greenery thrived in the challenging western-facing, highly reflective CBD environment. By harnessing the power of sustainable wicking technology, we provided consistent moisture to the plants, reducing maintenance while enhancing resilience against urban heat and exposure.

The result: a flourishing green sanctuary that not only revitalised the space but also improved well-being, offering a natural escape in the heart of the city.
