Raised garden beds in commercial spaces offer more than just greenery—they create opportunities for team members to connect, learn new skills, and bring the benefits of urban gardening into their daily lives.
As part of Auckland’s newest commercial development, we installed two 1680mm Macrocarpa Raised Garden Bed kits on the deck of this landmark building in the heart of the city. Spark, which occupies six floors, has a bustling outdoor space directly adjacent to its staff kitchen and eating area. This high-traffic deck is a vibrant hub throughout the day, making it the perfect location for productive, accessible garden beds that provide fresh produce for the large team.
Our friends at GreenAir maintain the beds, with WaterUps providing consistent soil moisture for thriving, low-maintenance crops. GreenAir has also introduced a fantastic initiative—monthly educational, planting, and harvesting sessions with Spark employees, promoting urban gardening in the workplace. The first session attracted 45 participants of all experience levels, each leaving more knowledgeable and inspired to grow their own food.
This project is a great example of how edible gardens can be successfully integrated into professional environments, fostering engagement, sustainability, and well-being in the workplace.
